In this interactive workshop, set for 11 a.m.-12:30 p.m. on Oct. 9, participants will explore the use of photo narration as an approach to both teaching and scholarship. Photo narration is a practice in which students take photos that capture moments, situations or objects that represent their learning.
The students also provide commentary on the photos they select that explains the significance or rationale behind the photos they have curated. Faculty have used photo narration as an approach for demonstrating numerous learning outcomes such as intercultural communication, inclusion and belonging, conceptual understanding and more.
Please note that this approach works across all disciplines–you do not need to have a background in the arts to benefit from its transformative potential. By the end of the workshop, participants will have developed the early stages of a photo narration assignment for your own course.
