Auburn University will transition from the current 5-digit dialing to 10-digit dialing for all phone calls made from on-campus phones (844 and 442 numbers) effective Jan. 15, 2024. A benefit of this transition ensures uniformity in dialing procedures for phone numbers on-campus allowing you to reliably connect with anyone, anytime, anywhere.
Currently, on-campus calls only require dialing 5 digits (4-XXXX or 2-XXXX). Beginning Jan. 15, 2024, all calls whether on-campus or off-campus will require that you dial 10 digits. For example, to call another AU office phone will require dialing 334-844-XXXX or 334-442-XXXX, and any off-campus call will require dialing the full 10-digit off-campus phone number. This change does not affect international calling.
This change will impact all speed dial settings on campus phones. OIT recommends all offices and departments begin updating contact lists and speed dial settings to reflect the new 10-digit dialing pattern to minimize disruptions after Jan. 15, 2024. Speed dial settings that use the Busy Lamp Field (BLF) feature will require that OIT make the change. Please view a step-by-step guide at aub.ie/speeddial and let us know if your phone’s speed dial is a BLF that requires OIT’s assistance to make the change.
We understand this change to 10-digit dialing will require adjustments and our team is committed to making the process as smooth as possible. Please do not hesitate to contact our team via email at campustelecom@auburn.edu or by phone at (334) 844-1060. We appreciate your understanding as we work toward modernizing services for a high-quality and reliable unified communication platform for Auburn University.
