Boshell Research Day Poster Presentations

Auburn University’s College of Veterinary Medicine will host the 15th annual Boshell Diabetes and Metabolic Diseases Research Day on Friday, March 15, at the Auburn-Opelika Marriott Resort at Grand National.

The annual Boshell Research Day event brings together experts from around the U.S. to present current topics related to diabetes and the role of obesity in its development. The meeting is highlighted by research presentations throughout the day and evening.

“Here at Auburn, we are attacking this disease from all sides from the laboratory through a variety of clinical studies,” said Robert Judd, director of the Boshell Research Program and professor of pharmacology in the College of Veterinary Medicine’s Department of Anatomy, Physiology and Pharmacology. “Research Day is an exciting opportunity for us to bring researchers and medical professionals together to share and discuss information about diabetes, obesity and their treatments.”

This year’s guest speakers include: Dr. Joel Elmquist, Carl H. Westcott Distinguished Chair in Medical Research and director of the Center for Hypothalamic Research, U.T. Southwestern Medical Center; Dr. Karen Gamble, F. Cleveland Kinney Endowed Chair in Geriatric Psychiatry, Vice Chair of Basic Research, Heersink School of Medicine, Department of Psychiatry & Behavioral Neurobiology, University of Alabama at Birmingham; and Dr. W. Timothy Garvey, associate director, Comprehensive Diabetes Center, director of Diabetes Research Center, professor, Department of Nutrition Sciences, School of Health Professions, University of Alabama at Birmingham.

Registration and additional information are available now at aub.ie/BoshellResearchDay. The event is free for Boshell program members, students and postdoctoral fellows and $125 for non-members. Registration is open through March 11.
