Beginning April 1, the university telephone system will transition from 5-digit dialing to 10-digit dialing for all calls made from 844 numbers. This change is part of the Office of Information Technology's ongoing telecommunications modernization plan, focused on improving the campus communication capabilities.

 Essential details to know

  • All campus phones will require the full 10-digit phone number (including area code) to dial e.g., 334-844-xxxx
  • Update saved contact lists and speed dial settings to reflect the new dialing pattern before April 1. Please view a step-by-step guide to update speed dial settings
  • Emergency 911 calls will remain unaffected.

Why the change?

The shift to 10-digit dialing is in preparation for transitioning to a unified communication platform, providing greater flexibility and functionality for future communication needs. The current 5-digit dialing will not work within this modernized system.

The Office of Information Technology has set up a special email address and phone number to assist with this change. Please contact our telecom team via email at campustelecom@auburn.edu or by phone at 334-844-1060. For more information, please visit the campus announcement.
