Construction barrels line South Donahue Drive

Several construction projects will begin in May as the summer approaches.

“These projects are designed to make improvements to infrastructure and move forward with capital projects during the summer semester when they will have the lowest impact on the campus community,” said Wendy Peacock, Facilities Management director of Construction Management.

Detailed maps of all the projects listed below can be found on the Facilities Management Closures and Outages page.

  • West Samford Avenue Road Closure: A section of West Samford Avenue from the Duncan Drive intersection to just in front of Goodwin Hall will be closed May 16 – July 1. Existing raised crosswalks will be removed and new raised crosswalks and sidewalks will be installed in support of the College of Education building. The road closure will extend onto Duncan Drive where a lane shift will take place.
  • South Donahue Drive Road Closure: This closure, to install field light posts and connect utilities to the Plainsman Park Phase II project, will take place May 7 – 15. Entry to the Athletic Complex and South Donahue Drive parking deck off West Samford Avenue will remain accessible. Entry to the Plainsman Park parking lot will remain accessible via Heisman Drive.
  • Haley Concourse Closure: A section of the Haley Concourse will close May 13 – 15 while contractors install a tower crane that will be used for the construction of the New Student Housing project.
  • P.O. Davis Drive Closure: A section of P.O. Davis Drive in front of Boyd Hall will be closed May 16 – July 9 for utility work in support of the STEM + Agricultural Sciences Complex construction. The work will also close a portion of the Boyd Hall parking lot. Motorists can enter the lot using Lem Morrison Drive. Access to the Sasnett parking lot will be available via Duncan Drive.
  • Langdon Hall Roof Replacement: A construction fence will surround this historic building from June 1 until August 2, while work takes place to replace the roof. Building entrances and exits will remain open during the project.
  • Langdon Annex Exterior Renovation: Construction scaffolding will surround the annex while work takes place through May 31, to paint windows and replace roof eave trim. Building entrances and exits will remain open during the project.
