Student using mobile credentials outside classroom

This fall, Auburn University will transition to a mobile-first institution, making the mobile Tiger ID the official form of student identification.

“We connect to all parts of our lives through our mobile devices, and this is especially true for students,” said Bobby R. Woodard, senior vice president for Student Affairs. “By investing in a mobile-first campus, Auburn reinforces our commitment to fostering an exceptional experience, both for students and our faculty and staff.”

Mobile credentials are already widely used across campus. Students and some staff members utilize their mobile devices to access residence halls, classrooms, laboratories, athletic events and campus facilities such as the Recreation and Wellness Center. Additionally, the Tiger ID facilitates contactless payments for meal plans at university dining venues.

New incoming students for fall ’24 will be the first cohort to start at Auburn with a mobile-only form of identification. Beginning July 29, returning students with active mobile credentials will have their accounts defaulted to the mobile Tiger ID use only for building/door access, on-campus dining transactions and Tiger Club account transactions both on and off campus.
