Sorority women running out of Neville Arena

This Saturday, a record-breaking 1,997 new members received bids to join one of Auburn’s 18 Panhellenic sororities, marking the culmination of a week filled with excitement, anticipation and sisterhood.

The festivities began in Neville Arena, where potential new members gathered to receive their bids. The energy in the arena was palpable as 91% of the original 2,194 women were successfully matched with a sorority chapter. The celebration then moved to the Village, where new members were welcomed with open arms by their new sorority sisters, friends and family.

“Bid Day is what every new member and active member looks forward to and is the celebration at the end of an exciting week,” said Caroline Jones, Panhellenic President. "It is so rewarding to see a new member run home to her new chapter and hug her new sisters!"

The week leading up to Bid Day was filled with events and activities designed to help potential new members, or PNMs, and sororities find the best fit for each other. The PNMs were introduced to each organization and afforded opportunities to connect with current members and learn about each chapter. Guiding them through the process were Pi Chis, or recruitment counselors, sorority members who have temporarily disaffiliated from their organization and received special training to ensure they remain a source of impartial advice and support.

“My Auburn experience would truly not be the same without Panhellenic,” Jones added. “The leadership skills, academic support, and friendships that I have found within both my chapter and the Panhellenic community have shaped me into the person I am today.”
