Let’s face it: writing is hard. So is teaching it. Whether you’re working on an article, grant proposal, assignment prompt, or syllabus, chances are you’ve wondered, “Do I really have time for this? How do I get started? What will the reviewers think? Can my students really do this?”
University Writing is here to help. Our Writing and Wellbeing Fellowship pilot program is designed to give you mindfulness-based tools you can use to thrive as a writer in your discipline, and to teach students how to better meet your expectations for writing. Each semester, a cohort of Fellows will build healthy writing habits and processes, develop awareness of disciplinary writing conventions, reflect on writing practices and pedagogy, and identify goals for improving the teaching of writing in the discipline.
Over eight bi-weekly sessions (four in fall, four in spring), fellows will meet with University Writing experts to learn, practice, and reflect on their progress as writers and teachers of writing in the disciplines. Fellows will earn a $1,600 stipend upon completion of all meetings and activities, and they will create reflective narratives on their writing lives for publication in University Writing’s Open Educational Resource. Please submit your application by Friday, Sept. 6.
