As of Jan. 6, 2025, all mail that will be delivered off campus should be labeled with a department’s corresponding Plus 4, formerly known as the “meter number.”

For those who are not familiar with the terms Plus 4/meter number, below is a list of FAQs that may be helpful.

What is a Plus 4?

  • Plus 4 is a number linked to a department that lets Mail Services know who to charge for mail that will be delivered off campus. Plus 4 is not a FOP.
  • Most departments should already have a Plus 4. However, there are times when that is not the case.

How do I find my Plus 4?

  • The Plus 4 can be found on your Mail Services statement. It will be labeled “Meter” on previous statements, and “Plus 4” on statements that started at the beginning of the fiscal year (Oct. 2024).
  • Request the Plus 4 from your billing department.
  • Reach out to Mail Services Manager Anthony Driver axd0002@auburn.edu.

How do I label outgoing mail with Plus 4? (Here are 3 options)

  • Add it to the end of the zip code on the return address section a piece. For example: 36849 – xxxx
  • Write the Plus 4 on a piece of paper and attached it to a bundle of mail or a package.
  • Write the Plus 4 directly to the mail/package.
