2025 COACH Substance Misuse Summit to be held Jan. 14

The 2025 COACH Substance Misuse Summit will be held Jan. 14, at Frazer Church in Montgomery, Alabama. The keynote speaker for the event will be renowned neurosurgeon Dr. Ben Carson, who served as the U.S. Secretary of Housing and Urban Development from 2017-2021. Auburn University faculty and staff are encouraged to attend and register here.

The summit is designed to provide an opportunity to hear leaders in their respective fields provide the latest information on substance use disorders. It is intended for an interdisciplinary audience including physicians, physician assistants, nurse practitioners, nurses, pharmacists, pharmacy technicians, social workers, mental health professionals, recovery professionals, guidance counselors, school resource officers, civic leaders, judicial officials and law enforcement professionals.

Topics will include the latest information on substance use disorders/MAT, drug court programs, recovery experts, substances of abuse, state resources and the Prescription Drug Monitoring Program (PDMP). In addition, participants will have the opportunity to hear from state leaders.

The Harrison College of Pharmacy Center for Opioid Research, Education and Outreach (COACH) is a dynamic research, education and outreach center that focuses on issues related to the opioid epidemic, substance use disorder and ways to improve prescribing in our communities. COACH places a special focus on collaborative partnerships with state and federal entities like the Alabama Department of Public Health, the Alabama Department of Mental health and others. Over the past two years, COACH has impacted more than 10,000 Alabamians through its education and outreach efforts.
