Registration is now open for Aspire Auburn’s Leading People, a new leadership development program for supervisors and managers. Any Auburn employee supervising full-time, part-time, temporary or student employees can register.
Through dynamic content taught by Auburn University instructors, supervisors will learn how to:
-
Articulate and apply Auburn University core values.
-
Strengthen and improve effective methods to encourage, enable, and develop employees.
-
Apply the foundational skills necessary to effectively lead.
Thirty-five supervisors from various departments recently participated in the Leading People pilot program, providing valuable feedback.
“Participating in Auburn University's Aspire Auburn's Leadership Program pilot as an executive assistant offered a transformative experience,” said Sandy Krietemeyer, senior executive assistant for the provost and vice president of academic affairs. “Through this program, I had the opportunity to learn to lead in a way that inspires and empowers my colleagues, helping them achieve their full potential.
“I gained a deeper understanding of Auburn’s core values and leadership principles and distinguished between being a boss and a true leader. I learned being a good listener as a leader is crucial because it fosters trust, encourages open communication and helps you understand the needs and perspectives of your team. Embracing and appreciating working with multiple generations brings diverse viewpoints and experiences, which can lead to more innovative solutions and a more inclusive work environment. By valuing each generation's unique contributions, I can help create a cohesive and dynamic team.”
