As part of the institution-wide Quality Enhancement Plan at Auburn University, the annual Elevated Education Exchange (EEE) builds connections among faculty, staff and administrative professionals. Hosted by The Office of Academic Insight, Academic Support, Biggio Center for the Enhancement of Teaching and Learning, Career Discovery and Success and University Writing, the EEE remains focused on students’ academic and co-curricular experiences in college that promote strong post-graduation success. This year, the event will feature the work of multiple Auburn faculty and alumni and conclude with keynote speaker, Indiana University’s Cindy Ann Kilgo.
During her keynote address, Kilgo will share her research as a way to shift the narrative from traditional metrics of student success to creating conditions necessary for students to thrive.
Kilgo is an associate professor of higher education and student affairs whose current research is a Spencer Foundation funded three-year, longitudinal mixed methods study titled “Thriving in College: A National Study of Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, and Queer (LGBTQ+) Students.” With more than 100 publications and presentations and nearly 2,000 citations, Kilgo was awarded the 2021 Association for the Study of Higher Education Early Career Award and is also a recipient of the Indiana University Trustees Teaching Award.
“We are excited to welcome Dr. Kilgo to campus in February,” said Stuart Miller, chair of the EEE planning committee. “Knowing that we all play a vital role in ensuring students are successful in college, we are excited to learn more about Dr. Kilgo’s research-informed learnings and recommendations to help all Auburn students thrive.”
The EEE will be held on Monday, Feb. 10, from 8 a.m.-1:30 p.m., in the Harold D. Melton Student Center Ballroom. A light breakfast, catered lunch and snacks will be served.
