President Christopher B. Roberts announced today that Rich McGlynn will serve as the Chief of Staff in the Office of the President.
McGlynn, whose appointment begins Feb. 1, has served Auburn in various positions in Auburn Athletics since 2006. In his most recent position as deputy executive athletics director, he oversaw, directed, coordinated and facilitated all daily athletics department operations and activities. McGlynn partnered with Athletics Director John Cohen and the executive staff to identify and implement strategies to achieve the department’s overall mission, values and objectives.
“Rich has a proven track record of success in leading complex projects, executing strategic initiatives and serving as a liaison for the Athletics Director,” Roberts said. “Rich will add immediate value to my office and the university because of his extensive knowledge of Auburn, coupled with the positive relationships he has with faculty, staff, students and university administration. I am so pleased to further leverage Rich’s experience for Auburn.”
In his new role as Chief of Staff, McGlynn will be a senior member of the President’s executive team and will be responsible for overseeing and executing initiatives and activities established by the President.
“I am excited to work with President Roberts and the entire university community,” McGlynn said. “I appreciate the opportunity to continue to advance the university’s mission by serving in this capacity.”
Before his arrival at Auburn, McGlynn worked for the NCAA, the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference and was a legal specialist in the Office of Counsel for New Jersey’s governor and the New Jersey General Assembly Majority Office.
He holds a bachelor’s degree in business administration from Florida Southern College and a juris doctorate from Seton Hall University’s School of Law.
