Boshell Research Day

The College of Veterinary Medicine will host the 16th annual Boshell Research Day on April 4, bringing together experts from around the United States to present current topics related to diabetes and the role of obesity in its development.

The Boshell Diabetes and Metabolic Diseases Research Program, housed in Vet Med, has more than 50 faculty members from nine colleges, researching causes and treatments for diabetes and obesity-related health issues, principally focusing on the cardiac, neurological and metabolic aspects.

Boshell Professor Robert Judd, who is also chair of the Boshell program and head of the Department of Anatomy, Physiology and Pharmacology in the college, previously said that the ongoing research of this group will improve the lives of people with type 1 and type 2 diabetes, as well as pets.

“We have strong interdisciplinary collaborations among professors who are researching the prevention, cure and management of diabetes and its complications,” Judd said. “We actively work together at Auburn and with faculty at other institutions to study the parallel epidemics of obesity and diabetes.”
