A student wearing an Auburn University polo shirt and backpack is engaged in a virtual reality (VR) experience using a white VR headset and two handheld controllers.

The Office of Information Technology (OIT) and the Biggio Center are seeking full proposals from faculty for implementing innovative technology, including augmented and virtual reality, to transform teaching and learning experiences for Auburn students.

Faculty are encouraged to identify opportunities for greater engagement and enhanced learning outcomes from virtual immersive learning experiences.

Faculty or faculty teams are asked to submit proposals that advance multi-course or multi-disciplinary learning and teaching, create innovative learning experiences with augmented or virtual reality, equitably increase access to immersive technologies to a broad audience or create repeatable processes for content creation and deployment. All projects will include a research component to better understand the effectiveness of extended reality in education.

OIT and Biggio Center will be hosting information sessions to facilitate questions, ideas and information on this opportunity. The first session will be in person during the next meeting for the recently formed Extended Reality Faculty Learning Community (XR FLC) on April 9. Additionally, there will be a drop in Teams Session on April 15

Proposal submissions will be accepted through May 27, using the Qualtrics-based application

Those interested in refining their ideas prior to proposal submission may reach out to Asim Ali at asim@auburn.edu or Alycia Baggett Chastang at alycia@auburn.edu.

Visit the AUX website for more information and to submit proposals.
