Auburn Campus

When crisis strikes, seconds matter. A coordinated, well-prepared response can save lives.

That’s why Auburn University’s Emergency Management Department and Campus Safety and Security, in collaboration with Auburn Public Safety and the Lee County Emergency Management Agency, are hosting an Active Shooter Training Exercise at Neville Arena on July 29-30.

Volunteers are needed to help make the exercise as realistic as possible.

Please sign-up if you are interested in participating one or both days

Why train?

Active shooter incidents can unfold anywhere — from classrooms and offices to concert halls and places of worship. This exercise is more than a drill — it’s a real-world test that strengthens response coordination between law enforcement, emergency medical services and fire department with our own campus safety personnel and local government agencies.

By stepping into simulated roles as victims, bystanders, parents or community members, volunteers will directly contribute to identifying gaps, improving communication and enhancing Auburn’s overall preparedness.

Registration ensures interested parties will receive updates, with no obligation to commit.

Why should I volunteer?

  • Be part of life-saving preparedness efforts.
  • Work alongside Auburn’s first responders to test protocols in real-time.
  • Help emergency teams fine-tune their response tactics.
  • Strengthen community safety through realistic train

No prior experience is required — just a willingness to help shape a safer future for Auburn and the broader community. Whether you step in as a victim, audience member, concerned parent or community participant, your presence will make this exercise more effective.
