More than 90 percent of Auburn University students report feeling extremely safe and secure on campus, according to the latest rankings from Niche.com, placing it among the safest universities in the Southeastern Conference (SEC).
Auburn earned the No. 2 spot for campus safety in the conference, behind the University of Mississippi.
In addition, Auburn was named the No. 1 college or university in Alabama and ranked No. 9 nationally among top public universities. These rankings are based on a combination of data from the U.S. Department of Education and student surveys that assess campus health and safety services.
Auburn’s reputation for safety is the result of a long-standing and innovative partnership with the City of Auburn and Auburn Public Safety. For 20 years, this collaboration has integrated city resources directly into campus operations, providing law enforcement, emergency medical services and fire protection.
This shared-services model has strengthened Auburn's emergency response capabilities and built a foundation of trust between the university and the broader community.
“I can't tell you a time that I've been walking on campus when it's dark outside and haven't felt safe. It is so safe."
