The Jule Collins Smith Museum of Fine Art at Auburn University reopens for the fall semester on Aug. 19.
The museum's newest exhibitions are themed around "Belonging" and feature works by notable artists such as Helen Frankenthaler, loaned from the Whitney Museum of Art; the inaugural Auburn Award winner, Binh Danh; the university's "Advancing American Art" collection; poetry paired with Audubon prints by the museum's poet-in-residence, Nicole Sealey; and a comprehensive video installation.
The museum will be open to the public on Tuesdays to Saturdays, 10 a.m.-6 p.m., with extended hours on those Thursdays featuring special programming. The Jule's Student Guides will be available for free daily public tours at 5 p.m. for those interested in diving deeper into the art.
Faculty and staff get discounts in the Museum Store with their AU ID, and the museum continues to have free admission for all.
Faculty are invited to learn more about working with the museum as a teaching resource by contacting The Jule's Education, Engagement and Learning staff at juleedu@auburn.edu. Additional information about how to get to the museum, upcoming public programs or new exhibitions can be found online.
