Duo security update: what you need to know

Duo is implementing a security update that affects older versions of the Duo app and other software that uses Duo for multi-factor authentication (MFA). 

For most students, faculty and staff, no action is required if apps update automatically. However, individuals with older devices, disabled auto-updates or certain applications may need to update Duo Mobile or related software manually. 

To maintain access to systems that require Duo authentication, all affected apps must be updated by March 31st. Those who do not update by this date may experience login issues. 

The Office of Information Technology strongly encourages everyone to review how to update apps on their devices and confirm that automatic updates are enabled. Keeping apps up to date helps protect personal and University data and ensures uninterrupted access to Auburn systems. Guidance for updating apps is found in the OIT Knowledge Base article at aub.ie/updateapps.
