The Auburn University Parent & Family Association honor Dr. Craig Kaplowitz and Dr. Mark Carpenter
The Auburn University Parent and Family Association (AUPFA) Board of Directors recently recognized members of the Auburn faculty and staff for their positive impact on Auburn students and their families while exemplifying the values of the Auburn Creed.
The AUPFA Board is composed of parents of current Auburn students from across the country. The board meets three times each year to provide guidance, feedback and recognition to Auburn University faculty and staff who make a meaningful impact on the student experience.
The board’s most recent meeting on April 17 began with the Faculty and Staff Awards Recognition Breakfast. According to AUPFA President and Auburn alumna Angie Morton, the awards reflect the powerful influence Auburn employees have on both students and families.
“Dr. Carpenter and Dr. Kaplowitz represent the very best of Auburn. Their nominations came directly from parents who have heard firsthand from their students about the meaningful impact they have made, impactful enough to inspire them to take the time to recognize it,” said Mortin. “Through their dedication, character, and genuine care, they not only shape the Auburn experience but also leave a lasting impression on families. It is an honor for our board to celebrate those who truly bring the Auburn Creed to life each day.”
Dr. Mark Carpenter, a professor in the College of Sciences and Mathematics was one of the two faculty and staff members honored. One parent noted Carpenter’s guidance and mentorship played a key role in their student’s academic and professional development.
“Dr. Carpenter motivated my student to pursue an applied mathematics major and to consider the graduate program,” a parent shared. “His counsel has helped my student discover a deep interest in these subjects. As a parent, it is wonderful to see him find what he is passionate about.”
Dr. Craig Kaplowitz, Director of the Exploratory Advising Center in Career Discovery and Success, was also honored at the event. A parent highlighted his dedication to helping students make informed and confident decisions about their academic and career paths.
“Dr. Kap’s dedication and passion for helping students make logical and educated decisions about their future is so valuable to students and families,” a parent wrote. “Our freshman daughter felt much better about not knowing what she wanted to do with her life, and as parents, we were grateful for the supportive process of discovering her passions and career paths.”
A complete list of past Faculty and Staff Award honorees is available on the Parent and Family Programs website. Nominations for 2026-2027 will open in November of 2027.
