The heart of campus soon will undergo significant changes as three summer construction projects begin in early May.
Preparations are underway on infrastructure work associated with Jordan‑Hare Stadium’s north end zone, a Brown‑Kopel Engineering Student Achievement Center laboratory and Keller and Owen halls in the Quad.
Facilities Management and its contractors are implementing safety measures including fencing, flaggers and signage to help protect pedestrians, cyclists and motorists in and around construction areas.
The following outlines the anticipated impacts for each project.
Jordan-Hare Stadium North End Zone Multi-Use Facility (May 5–17)
-
South Donahue Drive will be closed between War Eagle Way and north Heisman Drive as crews remove the crosswalk at Thach Avenue in preparation for vehicular traffic from Thach later this summer.
-
Road restriping will take place along Thach Avenue, from the Haley Center to South Donahue Drive. This work is part of preparation for the permanent closure of a section of Heisman Drive later this summer.
-
Parking spaces on the west side of the Haley Center will be closed and restriped as diagonal spaces. Parking will reopen once this phase of the project is complete. During restriping, additional accessible parking will be available behind Tichenor Hall, on Quad Drive and in the Stadium Parking Deck.
Brown‑Kopel Engineering Student Achievement Center’s Analytical, Innovation and Manufacturing Laboratory (Early May)
-
Entry to the construction site will be located on the Ginn Concourse. Construction delivery vehicles will be routed south on the Ginn Concourse from West Magnolia Avenue.
-
All deliveries should occur prior to 7 a.m., and deliveries that must occur after that time will be escorted by flaggers along the Ginn Concourse.
-
Construction is scheduled for completion in spring 2027.
Quad Residence Halls Renovations: Keller and Owen Halls (Beginning May 11)
-
Construction barricades and fencing will be installed along the length of the Roosevelt Concourse, extending from Mell Street to the campus green space, to separate pedestrian traffic from construction traffic.
-
Flaggers will also be available to direct construction vehicles along the concourse.
-
Construction is scheduled to be completed in spring 2027.
The construction projects mentioned above are highlighted on the Auburn University campus map along with links to detailed project maps.
The Facilities Management Capital Projects page includes additional details about these and other projects taking place on campus and across the state.
