Campus invited to retirement celebration honoring Robert Gottesman on June 25

Auburn University faculty, staff, students and friends are warmly invited to join us in celebrating the retirement of Robert Gottesman, Associate Vice President of the Office of Audit, Compliance & Privacy, on Thursday, June 25, from 2 to 4 p.m. in the Rane Room at the Athletic Complex on Donahue Drive.

Please join us as we recognize Robert’s 37 years of dedicated service to Auburn University. His steadfast leadership, commitment and contributions have made a lasting impact across the university, and this reception will provide an opportunity for the Auburn community to express appreciation and wish him well in retirement.

Robert began at Auburn University as an undergraduate student in political science in 1981. After completing his bachelor's degree, he went on to earn a master's degree in public administration. After completing his studies, Robert joined the Office of Planning and Analysis (now the Office of Institutional Research). He transitioned to the office of Internal Audit in 2003, where he conducted information systems audits. In 2016, he was named the first Director of a newly created Division of Institutional Compliance & Privacy and was charged with developing an overarching compliance program at Auburn University. He was promoted to Associate Vice President of Audit, Compliance & Privacy in 2023.

A loyal Auburn sports fan, Robert also dedicated his time and expertise to Auburn Athletics, running the basketball clock, keeping football statistics and reporting gymnastics scores. He created the first official Auburn University Athletics website in 1995 and maintained it through 2002. He has been the official timer for SEC basketball for the past 13 years. Notably, he ran the basketball clock for the 1996 Olympics in Atlanta.

Throughout his remarkable career, Robert has worked wisely and skillfully, living out the Auburn creed and demonstrating the character of a true Auburn man. Robert is married to Tina Gottesman and they have two children, Jessica and Josh, and two grandsons, Jett and Wren. In retirement, Robert plans to travel, hone his golf game and continue to support and serve Auburn Athletics.
