Auburn University promotes Kristin Roberts and Traci McGill to Assistant Vice President Roles

Kevin Robinson, Vice President of Institutional Compliance & Security, announced today that Kristin Roberts has been promoted to Auburn University’s Assistant Vice President of Institutional Compliance & Privacy, and Traci McGill has been promoted to Auburn University’s Assistant Vice President of Internal Audit and Chief Audit Executive. 

Roberts, whose appointment was effective June 1, has served as Director of Institutional Compliance & Privacy since 2025. She also served as an Assistant Director and a Manager for Institutional Compliance & Privacy since 2019. She joined Auburn University in 2013 after practicing law as an Assistant Attorney General for the State of Missouri in the Consumer Protection Division. 

“Kristin is an exceptional leader whose deep knowledge of higher education institutional compliance programs, privacy obligations, and risk management has strengthened Auburn University’s compliance culture in meaningful ways,” said Kevin Robinson, Vice President of Institutional Compliance & Security. “She brings strategic vision, sound judgment, and a collaborative approach to her work, and she has earned the trust and respect of colleagues across the institution. I am confident she will continue to advance our compliance and privacy program with excellence in her new role as Assistant Vice President.” 

In her most recent role, Roberts led the university-wide conflict of interest program, which received a Best Practice Award from the Southern Association of College and University Business Officers in 2023. She also oversaw the data privacy program and coordinated the institutional compliance committee to strengthen communication and mature Auburn’s institutional compliance program.

McGill’s appointment was also effective June 1. She has served as Director of Internal Audit since 2023 after leading a team of internal auditors at Aflac. Traci also worked at Deloitte as an Audit Senior after completing the Master of Accountancy program at Auburn University. 

“Traci is a highly respected leader who has done an outstanding job guiding Auburn’s internal audit team with professionalism, clarity, and purpose,” said Kevin Robinson. “She is proactive in identifying risks and opportunities for improvement, and she has built a strong and trusted relationship with the chair of the Audit and Compliance Committee of the Board of Trustees. Her leadership, insight, and commitment to excellence have been invaluable to the university, and I am excited to see her continue to elevate the internal audit function in her new role as Assistant Vice President and Chief Audit Executive.” 

As the Internal Audit Director, McGill led the institution’s internal audit program, conducting risk-based audits, investigations, management audits, and IT audits. She completed a Quality Assessment Review of the internal audit program in 2024, demonstrating that the audit program meets standards according to the Global Internal Audit Standards. Her team’s work is highly valued by senior leadership to strengthen risk mitigation and Auburn University’s compliance posture.

I look forward to building on the strong foundation of our internal audit program and leading our team with integrity, collaboration, and excellence.” 

Roberts holds a JD from the University of Missouri at Kansas City and a Bachelor of Arts in Journalism and Mass Communication from Drake University where she was an ESPN Academic All-American in women’s soccer and played women’s basketball. She is a Certified Compliance and Ethics Professional (CCEP) and Certified Information Privacy Professional (CIPP/US). 

McGill holds a MAcc from Auburn University and a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration, Accounting from Auburn University Harbert College of Business where she was a member of the Auburn University Marching Band. She is a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) and Certified Internal Auditor (CIA). McGill currently serves as the President of the Columbus (GA) Chapter of the Institute of Internal Auditors and serves on the Auburn University Harbert College of Business Young Alumni Council.
