Judd Langham named Auburn University’s first university landscape architect

Facilities Management is pleased to announce that Judd Langham; assistant director of Campus Planning and Space Management in Planning, Design and Construction (PD&C), has been named Auburn University's first university landscape architect, effective June 1.

In his new role within PD&C, Langham will lead efforts to ensure the outdoor campus environment is functional, sustainable and visually cohesive. He will provide leadership in site development to align buildings, pedestrian circulation and green spaces with the university's aesthetic, educational and sustainability goals.

A licensed landscape architect, Langham brings 20 years of professional experience, including work in the private sector at OLIN in Philadelphia and Barge Solutions in Birmingham, Ala., as well as running 2D Studio, his own landscape architecture, urban design and planning practice.

Prior to joining Facilities in 2017 as a campus planner, Langham served as a city planner with the city of Auburn.

Langham holds graduate faculty status and teaches master's- and bachelor's-level courses in the Landscape Architecture program within the College of Architecture, Design and Construction, as well as undergraduate courses in the Academic Sustainability Program within University College.

"His commitment to Auburn University and deep understanding of our campus environment position him well to provide leadership and guidance that will strengthen the university's physical landscape and uphold Auburn's established image and character."

As university landscape architect, Langham will provide guidance on the campus environment's physical layout and appearance. He will report to the university architect, who is responsible for design matters related to campus image and character.

Langham's role also includes close collaboration with the director of Landscape Services to align installation and operational efforts with long-term planning and design goals.

Langham is an Auburn alumnus, holding a master's degree in landscape architecture and a bachelor's degree in horticulture with a minor in business.
