CADC's annual Pumpkin Carve set for Friday, Oct. 25

The glow of more than 200 jack-o-lanterns will illuminate the courtyard of Auburn’s Dudley Hall on Friday, Oct. 25, as students from the College of Architecture, Design and Construction (CADC) host the 36th Annual Pumpkin Carve.

The Auburn's American Institute of Architecture Students (AIAS) invites all students, faculty, staff and community members to gather in the courtyard of Dudley to carve pumpkins, enjoy refreshments, participate in a silent auction and more.

Carving begins at 9 a.m., and all-day activities include a silent auction to win napkin sketches created by CADC faculty, staff, students and alumni and the opportunity to purchase this year’s Pumpkin Carve t-shirts and stickers. Raffle tickets will be on sale, with buyers having the chance to win one of several prize baskets donated by local businesses and campus partners. 

Refreshments will include snacks, treats and beverages from various CADC organizations, as well as AIAS Dog Days coordinating hamburgers and hot dogs.

Pumpkin carving will end at 5:30 p.m., and the pumpkins will then be illuminated. The pumpkins, many with intricate designs and current events themes, will be judged by a jury of community members and CADC faculty based on creativity, appearance and craftsmanship.

Beginning at 6:30 p.m., winners for the raffle contest, napkin sketch silent auction and pumpkin carving contest will be announced and prizes awarded. At 7:30 p.m., the winning pumpkins will be auctioned to benefit the AIAS. Other carved and uncarved pumpkins will be available for purchase for a minimum donation of $5, with those proceeds also benefiting the AIAS.

The Dudley Courtyard is located between Dudley Hall and Dudley Commons, which is adjacent to the Graves Amphitheater on the Auburn campus. After 5 p.m., visitors can park in the South Quad Parking Deck on Lem Morrison Drive and Duncan Drive.
