Auburn University is set to host the Alabama Science and Engineering Fair (ASEF) on Saturday, April 5.

Each year, the ASEF invites middle and high school champions from four regional fairs representing dozens of schools across Alabama to showcase their independent research projects. The students compete for more than $15,000 in prizes and Senior division competitors (grades 9-12) vie for a nomination to the world’s largest pre-college science competition, the Regeneron International Science and Engineering Fair (ISEF). Four ASEF students will attend Regeneron ISEF in Columbus, OH in May 2025. The top 10% of junior division competitors (grades 6-8) will compete in the 2025 Thermo Fisher Scientific Junior Innovators Challenge, the nation’s premier middle school STEM research competition.

Auburn will also be hosting Alabama’s inaugural Invention Convention. Invention Convention Alabama (ICA) invites 5th-8th grade champions from seven schools across Alabama. These students identify a problem and work through the invention process to create a unique product to solve it, inspiring them to become innovators, inventors and entrepreneurs. This program culminates in an invention fair that gives students the opportunity to give a pitch of their original invention and vie for the opportunity to be one of the five champions chosen to attend Invention Convention U.S. Nationals at the Henry Ford in Dearborn, MI in June 2025.

After the ASEF projects & ICA inventions are viewed by the judges and the public, the STEM is Everywhere Expo is open to all participants, teachers and families to experience over 25 hands-on, educational STEM tables and activities.

Please reach out to AU COSAM any questions or if you are interested in attending the fairs and speaking with local students about their projects.
