Students interested in a future in education engaged Wednesday with 45 school districts from 10 states as part of the fall Education Interview Day offered by Auburn University Career Discovery and Success and Auburn’s College of Education.
The event, held at Auburn’s Alumni Center, was one of networking, interviewing and learning about job opportunities.
“Education Interview Day is beneficial because it provides an opportunity for students of diverse backgrounds to engage with a variety of school districts,” said Jelisa Bass, a career strategist with Career Discovery and Success. “The chance for students to network with professional educators while enhancing their interviewing skills is invaluable.”
The event is offered twice a year, with the next occurring in the spring. It allows students of all majors to learn more about a variety of school districts locally, regionally and beyond. Wednesday’s event involved school district representatives from Alabama, Georgia, Tennessee, Virginia, Florida, Louisiana, Kentucky, South Carolina, Texas and Nevada.
“The chance for students to network with professional educators while enhancing their interviewing skills is invaluable.”
“This event is designed to help aspiring educators network with school districts, learn about job openings and even participate in on-the-spot interviews,” said David Shamp, student services coordinator for the College of Education. “Whether they are a current student, recent graduate or an experienced educator looking for new opportunities, Education Interview Day is a gateway to a fulfilling career in education.”
Those in attendance also had the opportunity to have professional headshots taken. In addition to the many school districts present, Auburn’s College of Education was on hand to answer any questions about its programs and degrees, and the college’s student ambassadors were in attendance to provide support for the event.
