Students from throughout the nation will have a unique opportunity on Feb. 17 to learn all about Auburn’s College of Education and the many programs it offers.
The annual Spring Preview Day will begin at 9 a.m. inside Auburn’s Melton Student Center, welcoming students interested in the college’s 19 undergraduate majors focused on education and health. Those interested in attending are asked to sign up for the event online.
“Spring Preview Day is the best way for interested students to learn about the College of Education,” said College of Education Student Services Coordinator David Shamp. “With so many resources from our college and the greater university in one place, it’s an excellent opportunity to gather information about our programs and college life.”
Attendees will be able to customize their experience with opportunities to meet with faculty, staff and advisors from throughout the college. The day’s event will begin with students mingling with College of Education faculty and staff as well as learning about campus-wide resources from representatives of the admissions office, housing office, study abroad and more. Students will also have the chance to explore the College of Education’s new building through virtual reality headsets.
The event culminates with a formal presentation, including remarks by the college’s dean, Jeffrey Fairbrother. That presentation will also involve a panel of students, faculty and alumni answering generalized questions about the College of Education and taking questions from the audience. Additionally, Student Services representatives from the college’s Office of Academic Faculty Affairs will provide information about financial aid, housing, career and discovery as well as next steps, helping admitted students understand what must be done before they begin their freshman year on campus. The college’s advisors will also introduce themselves and briefly overview their services.
All Spring Preview Day attendees will enjoy a free lunch on Auburn’s campus, and this year’s event will feature a special "Table Talk-Meet our Alumni” offering for those who have pre-registered. The Table Talk will provide a more intimate experience with College of Education Student Ambassadors, distinguished alumni and current students. To pre-register for that event, make sure to check the box on your registration form.
At the conclusion of Spring Preview Day, an optional tour of campus will be offered from 1-2 p.m., followed by a tour of the college’s School of Kinesiology building from 2-3 p.m.
