1. What is your role in the College of Education?

I am the IT Manager for the College of Education. I have a team of three currently but will have a team of four in the near future. I oversee the day-to-day IT needs, manage projects and fill in for my team to make sure we are providing high quality IT services to our folks. I strive to ensure that we not only provide support for existing technology but also improve our services and processes.

2. How long have you worked at Auburn?

I started working as a TES employee in the Graduate School in 2014. In 2015, I started teaching English full-time at Marion Military Insitute, but I returned to the Graduate School as TES during summer and winter breaks until December 2018. I started working full time for the College of Education in January 2019 as an IT Specialist III; I transitioned to my current role in April 2023. I recently had my six-year anniversary with the College--if I counted right.

3. What are some new initiatives you are working on now?

We are currently planning and prepping for the move to the new COE building. Right now, we are focused on making the transition of technology smooth for faculty and staff so that they can get back to work quickly once they move.

However, we do have two on-going projects—the Graduate Assistant Technology Improvement project and the Research Lab Technology project. Both projects aim to identify computers or zero clients that are not meeting the needs of the end-user or are reaching the end of life and then replace them with computers we have repurposed from our Technology Procurement Replacement Project. Doing so allows us to provide a positive and cost-effective IT experience for our end-users.

4. What is a part of your job you are especially proud of?

I am proud of my team and that I get to lead them. I have compassionate, committed, and competent folks working under me. We aspire to provide a positive IT experience for COE, and my team is all in when it comes to pursuing that goal--from ideation to execution. They help me to be thoughtful about how the decisions we make affect the people we serve. It is a great honor and responsibility to lead them in a way that lets them make the best use of their skills and honors them as people.

5. What is a fun fact about yourself?

I do not know that I have fun facts about myself; are these fun?

  • I manage my stress with physical activity and currently dance parties in my living room are my go-to. "The Tootsie Roll" is still a bop.
  • I recently bought a switch and am reliving my youth by replaying old Nintendo games. Zelda: Link's Awakening and Yoshi's Island are my top favorites right now.
  • Currently, I am also obsessed with LEGO, particularly the botanical and animal ones. I have my eye on Tuxedo cat, but I have a few botanical sets to put together before I buy more.
  • My most unpopular opinion: Celery is gross, and ants on a log is an abomination.
