New Education Building Room name:
Charles and Amanda Sorrell Bazemore Family Instructional Classroom
Named after:
Charles and Amanda Sorrell Bazemore Family
Their story:
Charles and Amanda Bazemore are both proud graduates of Auburn University, with Charles earning a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration in 1970 and Amanda earning a Bachelor of Science degree in Elementary Education in 1973.
They have a legacy of outstanding educators within their family, including Amanda’s service for 25 years as a sixth-grade teacher, which led them to establish the Amanda Sorrell Bazemore ’73 Ever Auburn Endowed Scholarship in the College of Education for students pursuing a degree in Elementary Education.
Their two daughters graduated from Auburn University, Susan Bazemore Canaan earning her Bachelor of Science degree in Health Promotion in 2001 and Masters of Education degree in Administration of Higher Education in 2003, and Claire Bazemore Lawford earning her Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing in 2003.
The Bazemores, along with their children and grandchildren, exemplify the Auburn Creed in that they “believe that this is a practical world and that I can count only on what I earn. Therefore, I believe in work, hard work. I believe in education, which gives me the knowledge to work wisely and trains my mind and my hands to work skillfully."
