Auburn College of Education faculty, staff and students were honored Tuesday at the college’s 44th annual Awards Recognition Ceremony.

The event recognized 19 awardees in several categories and treated faculty, staff and students to a special lunch with live music at The Hotel at Auburn University and Dixon Conference Center.

Jeffrey Fairbrother, dean and Wayne T. Smith Distinguished Professor, began the ceremony by awarding his Dean’s Leadership Awards to staff members Cassie Boze, David Shamp and Kelly Buckingham. That was then followed by Associate Dean for Academic and Faculty Affairs Jared Russell handing out seven student awards. Associate Clinical Professor and Awards Committee Chair Chris Wilburn then announced the five faculty and four staff award winners.

“Each student, faculty and staff member honored with an award today has shown a commitment to the College of Education and its mission of building a better future for all,” Fairbrother said. “Through outstanding academics, research and outreach efforts, these individuals work toward this important goal.”

In addition to the event’s awards, Fairbrother also recognized two outgoing administrators for their years of dedication to the college: Mary Rudisill, director of the School of Kinesiology who will retire at the end of this semester, and Jeff Reese, head of the Department of Special Education, Rehabilitation and Counseling who will start a new role this summer as dean of the University of Nebraska-Lincoln College of Education and Human Sciences.
