Now that Auburn University’s College of Education has opened the doors of its brand-new building to students, it is also excited to offer tours to members of the public interested in experiencing the new, 167,000-square-foot, state-of-the-art instructional and research facility.
New building tours are currently available to interested students and their parents as well as community groups. Tours for students and parents will be led by the College of Education’s Student Ambassadors group, a leadership organization whose members serve as hosts and volunteers for the college, assist in the Dean’s Office and promote the college through other activities and events.
“I am excited to show prospective students my love for Auburn and get them excited to be a part of the family here!” said Kaylee Word, the 2025-26 Student Ambassador president. “Having a new building is a big step for the College of Education and will be so beneficial to all students in our college, regardless of their specific major.”
At the corner of Samford Avenue and Duncan Drive, the new building officially opened to students for the summer semester on May 19 as the college celebrates its 110th anniversary.
“We’re thrilled to open the doors of our new home and invite visitors to experience it for themselves,” College of Education Dean and Wayne T. Smith Distinguished Professor Jeffrey T. Fairbrother said. “This building represents more than just bricks and mortar—it’s a space designed to inspire learning, foster collaboration and reflect the future of higher education. We welcome you to come explore, connect and celebrate this exciting new chapter with us.”
Prospective students and parents interested in seeing the new building can book a tour in one of two ways: with or without a visit at the end with a college recruiter. On Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays, guests will be guided through the building by two student ambassadors and conclude their visit with Student Services Coordinator David Shamp, who will answer any additional questions. Tours on Tuesdays and Thursdays will not include a recruiter visit. Various tour times are available, and a full list of time slots can be found on the College of Education Visits Calendar.

“Prospective students will learn from current student tour guides about how the new building emphasizes authentic student learning, provides resources to enhance creativity through the LRC and its Makerspace and encourages collaboration in all of the new study spaces,” Shamp said.
In addition to student/parent tours, community groups also have the opportunity to see all that the College of Education building has to offer.
“In addition to offering tours for prospective students, we’re now offering guided tours for individuals, alumni and group visitors,” Engagement Coordinator Claudia Hendrix said. “During your visit, you’ll experience our state-of-the-art classrooms, collaborative learning spaces and innovative teaching labs designed to inspire future educators. We welcome you to discover the exciting possibilities our new space has to offer.”
All tour options can be found on the College of Education Visits Calendar. Alumni and non-prospective students may register for a tour on our website.
Those using the calendar will first select a time slot and will then register for a tour. The registration page also features directions to the new building. There are various options available for transfers, graduate students, alumni and other groups, as well as information on tours of the School of Kinesiology’s building on Wire Road.
Those interested must be registered for a college tour 48 hours in advance or the time slot will close. After registration is completed, a confirmation email is sent with directions, parking locations and other pertinent information.
