As a lead administrative assistant, Anissa Moffett plays a key role in ensuring a smooth operation for the Department of Curriculum and Teaching in Auburn’s College of Education.
“I take pride in creating an efficient, collaborative and supportive environment that allows faculty and staff to focus on their academic and professional responsibilities,” Moffett said.
In her role, she oversees essential processes such as purchasing, travel arrangements and faculty support while managing calendars, scheduling meetings and assisting with special events. Moffett has worked in the College of Education since 2021 and said she enjoys the variety it brings, from assisting faculty to supporting staff to maintaining day-to-day operations.
Moffett’s selfless commitment to her role was recently recognized when she received Auburn’s Spirit of Excellence Award for the month of April.
“Winning this award was truly an honor and a humbling experience,” she said. “To me, it signified that the dedication, consistency and care I bring to my work truly matter and didn’t go unnoticed. It validated the small, everyday efforts—staying organized and treating others with kindness and respect. Receiving this recognition motivates me to continue giving my best every day.”
Paul Fitchett, professor and head of the Department of Curriculum and Teaching, emphasized Moffett’s importance to the department as someone who maintains a wide variety of responsibilities.
“Anissa is an integral member of the Curriculum and Teaching team,” Fitchett said. “She provides exceptional administrative support for faculty, helps students navigate requests and engages with education stakeholders in a timely and professional manner.”
Moffett said she values being a central point of connection in a college that fosters an environment of support.
“People genuinely care about one another, and that creates a supportive, collaborative atmosphere,” Moffett said. “Within the College of Education, there’s a shared commitment to making a difference in the lives of others, whether it’s through teaching, research or service.”
