With the fall semester underway, Auburn’s College of Education recently welcomed a new group of student ambassadors to serve as its representatives, along with several returning members.

Comprised of 45 total members—36 of whom are new to the organization—the student ambassadors serve as official hosts and volunteers for the college and promote the college through other activities and events throughout the year.

Natalie Meder, a sophomore majoring in elementary education and one of the college’s new ambassadors, said she joined the organization to meet new people and to share how special the College of Education is with interested students.

“I am so excited to meet prospective families and share with them how the College of Education and Auburn can truly become a home away from home,” Meder said. “I look forward to sharing how the college has set me up for success, and that they, too, will be successful here at Auburn!”

Earlier this year, the ambassadors helped host special guests at the grand opening of the new College of Education building. They will assist with other major college events throughout the year, including Preview Day, Education Interview Day, and Camp War Eagle sessions next summer. Student ambassadors also host tours of the college’s new building for prospective students and their parents, providing an overview of the 167,000-square-foot research and instructional facility at the corner of Samford Avenue and Duncan Drive. For those interested in tours, a full list of time slots can be found on the College of Education Visits Calendar.

Kaylee Word, a junior majoring in exercise science, is leading the group as this year’s Student Ambassador president.

“I am so honored to be serving as president,” Word said. “We have a great group of ambassadors, and I am excited to see how each of them grows as we continue to lead alongside each other and make a positive impact on the College of Education!”

The 2025-26 group of student ambassadors features students majoring in 10 different programs offered by the College of Education, spread across the three departments that offer undergraduate degrees. Ambassadors are selected after numerous interview rounds and must pass a written test before being formally accepted into the program.

The group’s advisor is College of Education Recruitment and Scholarship Coordinator David Shamp.

"I am very excited to see how our ambassador program will liven up the College of Education's new building,” Shamp said. “I am thankful that it allows some of our best and brightest students to serve the college and grow through countless opportunities to interact with students, faculty, staff and prospective students and guests."

This year, the student ambassadors will visit all College of Education first-year seminar classes to talk to students about the program, and they will be tabling on the concourse at various Organization Days throughout the year. Applications for the Student Ambassadors will open in late fall and close before February 2026. For more information, visit our Student Ambassador webpage.
