Kinesiology student, Auburn native named College of Education student marshal for summer commencement

Nate Foster, an exercise science major in the School of Kinesiology, has been selected to serve as the College of Education’s student marshal for Auburn University’s summer 2026 commencement ceremony. 

For Foster, a native of Auburn, attending Auburn University fulfilled a goal he’s had for years.

“Being born here in Auburn, I had the privilege of getting to grow up near one of the greatest universities in the country,” he said. “Auburn has been a part of my life for as long as I can remember. Getting to attend as a student was not only the next step in my education, but also a lifelong dream coming to fruition.”

Foster chose to major in exercise science because of his passion for health and human performance, and he added a minor in business to strengthen his communication, leadership and problem-solving skills while complementing his scientific studies.

“My time at Auburn has shaped me into a more confident leader, teammate and person,” he said. “In my four years here, Auburn has truly taught me the importance of leading with integrity, serving others and embracing every opportunity for growth.”

Service was certainly a hallmark of Foster’s time at Auburn. He was heavily involved in First Year Experience and Auburn University Dream Makers, as well as his social fraternity, Sigma Chi.

“As a head orientation counselor for First Year Experience, I had the privilege of welcoming thousands of new students and their families while mentoring fellow counselors and representing the Auburn Family,” he said. “Through Auburn University Dream Makers, I served as an assistant director of morale, helping foster a community dedicated to supporting the NICU and pediatric units at East Alabama Health.”

Most recently, he served as director of Derby Days for Sigma Chi, where he led a campus-wide philanthropy effort that raised more than $62,000 for local cancer research.

“Within these roles, I have found a true love for service and giving back, and I know that the skills I developed will stay with me for the rest of my life,” he said.

Upon graduation, Foster plans to pursue a career in sales, with hopes that he can find a role that combines his passion for healthcare with the communication and leadership skills he developed at Auburn.

“I look forward to continuing to grow both professionally and personally while making a meaningful impact within this industry,” he said. “No matter where my career takes me, I hope to continue to represent Auburn and the Auburn Family with pride.”
