The Honors College welcomes Ashley Daniels as its new business and administrative services coordinator.
She holds a Bachelor of Science in communication from the University of Montevallo. A lifelong Auburn fan, she’s excited to contribute to the Honors experience and join a team that cares about the success of its students and faculty.

Let's get to know ashley
Why did you choose your degree?
After obtaining my “social” degree from Auburn, I transferred to the University of Montevallo and graduated with a Bachelor of Science in communication. I loved the familiarity of both universities and consider myself lucky that I was able to attend both. Each offered a different college experience, and it was exactly what I needed at that point in my life to be a successful student both academically and socially. Communications seemed like a perfect fit for me, and I loved all the professors. I was able to intern at a radio station in Birmingham where I participated in live remotes and a lot of other promotional events.
What brought you to the Honors College?
A combination of luck and determination. If you have ever applied for a job at Auburn you know the process can be long and hard. One you realize you cannot take it personally or give up on it, you develop a system: apply for several jobs, give it a couple of days, check on the status, follow up and apply for a few more.
Then one day you get the call, and you get an interview. Then a second, which consist of lunch followed by an interview with the entire Honors College staff. Leaving that day, I realized how much each of these wonderful people cared about this part of the university. How they want these kids to be successful not only here at Auburn but in their life after college.
They are very invested in who walks through those doors every day, and they want the people they work with to feel the same way. I am incredibly grateful I have been given the opportunity to help contribute to this part of Auburn and cannot wait to see what the future holds.

Do you have any hobbies?
I love to be outside!! I like to play tennis and spend time with my son. Of course, we like to do anything Auburn and be with our dog, Bow. Life is always an adventure with these two, and I cannot imagine what life is going to be like when Walker goes to college next year. I will have to find some more hobbies to keep me busy. I have noticed a lot of people in the Honors College like to run marathons. I can go watch them do that!
What are small things that make your day better?
Every morning my child will text me that he arrived at school safe, and he tells me to have a great day.
Movies, TV, or Books – or all three?
I love all three. However, I watch more TV (sporting events), but I do love to read.
You would be surprised to know that I can … (not)
Drive a manual (stick shift) 5-speed. I have tried, several times, just cannot do it.
What are you most excited about working at the Honors College?
Working with all these amazing people. As well as working on campus and experiencing the Auburn community in a different way than I normally do on a gameday.

What advice would you give to an Honors College student?
I would tell them to enjoy this time in their life. They have worked so hard to get to this point. Not everyone gets this opportunity. They need to make sure they are experiencing everything Auburn has to offer. It such a special place and they do not want to look back and regret not getting involved and making memories.
Do you have a favorite Auburn memory / or Auburn-area memory?
My dad has been taking me to Auburn football games since I can remember. I have been to all the great ones. But what has made them so special is having those memories with him. He genuinely loves Auburn and not just the sports. He loves the town, the people, all the local businesses and most of all the atmosphere.
He is a true Auburn person through and through, and I am so proud to stand next to him at every event we attend because, if you know my dad, we are not leaving till the end.
