Carter Williams, an Auburn Honors College alumnus and Premier Tech supply chain manager, is excited about opportunities that the company's growth presents for Auburn students. As Premier Tech further establishes itself in the region, students can expect expanding internship opportunities and full-time positions, gaining hands-on experience with a dynamic industry innovator.

"I would really like to see the connection between us and the university grow," Williams said. "We are right down the road in an awesome facility. I know Auburn is very engineering-heavy, but we also have supply chain, we have all kinds of opportunity here in the long run to get Premier Tech's name out and it's really exciting."

Premier Tech, a Canadian company with global headquarters in Quebec, is dedicated to providing innovative solutions across multiple industries, including horticulture, agriculture, home, systems and automation, water and environment, digital and life sciences.

It is committed to connecting people and technology to help feed, protect and improve the world. With a strong emphasis on sustainability, the company offers and manufactures industrial solutions that meet market needs and make a positive impact on the world.

The Montgomery facility specializes in palletizing, load securing and Premier Tech’s first palletizing cobot, TOMATM automation equipment. The innovative design of TOMA — so named for the central role of the letters in “automation” — is created to be collaborative, easy to program and easy to install.

Williams had the opportunity to witness this groundbreaking project from the ground up.

He graduated in 2019 with a bachelor's degree in industrial and systems engineering. While at Auburn, he served as a student recruiter, Week of Service counselor and an Honors College student worker.

It was while working at the front desk in Cater Hall that Williams applied for a manufacturing engineer role at Premier Tech. Advancing within the tech systems and automation division, he transitioned into managerial and planning roles as the facility expanded its automation projects.

Now, as a supply chain manager, Williams oversees operations from engineering design release to final equipment shipment, playing a key role in optimizing Premier Tech’s systems.
