Six Auburn University faculty selected for 2024 RSCT Grant

2024 Research & Scholarship Connections Travel Grant Recipients: Ashley Hawthorne; Binita Mahato; Danielle Pester; Sayyed Fawad Ali Shah; Brandon Smith; Shabarinath Srikumar

The Office of International Programs (OIP) has awarded the Research & Scholarship Connections Travel Grant to six Auburn faculty members for travel to institutions in Thailand and Indonesia in June.

From a pool of 30 applicants, OIP would like to congratulate the six grant recipients!

The Research & Scholarship Connections Travel Grant leverages Auburn’s strongest international partnerships to foster collaborations across disciplines. Faculty benefit from OIP’s contacts and logistical expertise as well as the security and longevity of relationships formed at the university level to make the connections they need to further world-class research on the international stage.

The grant includes an itinerary arranged by OIP to include meetings with university contacts at Chulalongkorn University (Bangkok, Thailand), Kasetsart University (Bangkok, Thailand), Chiang Mai University (Chang Mai, Thailand), IPB University (Bogor, Indonesia), and the University of Indonesia (Jakarta, Indonesia); round-trip economy airfare; hotel accommodations; per diem reimbursement for meals and incidentals; group ground transportation; and support before and after travel to make appropriate connections with international contacts and collaborators.

Global events over the last five years have shaken us all and shaped the way universities interact across borders. But now, with the world open and hungry for solutions, it’s time for Auburn to create the future we wish to see through our research, scholarship and innovation. OIP provides resources to equip the Auburn Family for the future, including:

  • Grant programs for research collaborations with strategic partners
  • Study abroad program development
  • Expertise on international hiring
  • Assistance with internationalizing courses and curricula
  • Faculty internationalization development programs
  • Connections and contacts with strategic university and government partners abroad
