The Auburn University Bullock County Agriculture (AUBCAG) program, a new collaborative partnership between the Auburn University Center for Educational Outreach and Engagement (CEOE) and Auburn's College of Agriculture, officially launched Sept. 12.
Based at the Bullock County Career Tech Center in Union Springs, Alabama, the pilot program will support the agriscience career and technical education program and curriculum for Bullock County students. CEOE has partnered with Bullock County Public Schools in the past, and this initiative continues that collaboration.
AUBCAG will offer high school students a variety of opportunities to explore career pathways in agriculture and to engage with the College of Agriculture. Guest speakers, consultants, professors and students will cover topics such as entomology, horticulture, greenhouse science and landscaping with an emphasis on agriscience.
The program will also sponsor the Career Tech Student Organization (CTSO) for Future Farmers of America (FFA) team competitions, covering entry fees, travel, meals and competition resources to help students compete at the local, regional, state and national levels.
