Pharmacy's Durham promoted to clinical professor

The Harrison College of Pharmacy’s Dr. Spencer Durham was among Auburn University faculty who were recently awarded promotion or tenure, recognizing their outstanding contributions to the university. Durham was promoted to clinical professor with the new appointment beginning on Aug. 1, coinciding with the start of the 2026-27 academic year.

"It is exciting to celebrate the outstanding accomplishments of our faculty and we are especially proud of Dr. Durham and all he does for HCOP, " said Leigh Ann Ross, dean of the Harrison College of Pharmacy. "This is an important milestone in his career and a reflection of his years of diligent service to the college and the profession of pharmacy.”

A 2007 graduate of the Harrison College of Pharmacy (HCOP), Durham has been a faculty member with HCOP since 2013, joining as an assistant clinical professor in the Department of Pharmacy Practice. He was promoted to associate clinical professor in 2019. In addition to his faculty duties, Durham also serves as the Director of Professional Affairs for the college where he works proactively with HCOP alumni and other health care professionals from throughout the state and region to foster the development of innovative practice models and to expand and enhance opportunities for continuous professional development.

A Board Certified Infectious Disease  Pharmacist, Durham serves as a clinical professor of medicine with the University of Alabama at Birmingham Heersink School of Medicine – Huntsville Regional Campus and maintains a practice site with the Internal Medicine and Family Medicine rounding services, where he provides infectious diseases and antimicrobial stewardship support. Additionally, he serves as the clinical pharmacist for the UAB Huntsville infectious diseases outpatient clinic.
