Jaime S. Miller | Director of Academic Support
Jaime S. Miller, director of Academic Support within the Office of the Provost, was awarded the Hunter Boylan Research Scholarship at the International College Learning Center Association, or ICLCA (formerly the National College Learning Center Association), awards banquet recently held in Portland, Oregon.
The Hunter Boylan Research Scholarship recognizes research that contributes to students’ academic success and persistence in higher education. As a doctoral candidate in the Higher Education Administration program within the College of Education, Miller’s reflexive feminist autoethnography serves as a model for practitioners to trouble their own practices, assumptions and beliefs related to peer leadership program design and administration. Her critically informed scholarly efforts are designed to interrogate the underlying systems and structures that influence practitioners’ and students’ experiences in the field of higher education.
“I want to share my critically informed learnings with other learning center practitioners in the field,” said Miller. “It is gratifying to see my scholarly efforts on display at the international conference.”
In addition to the awarded scholarship, the designation includes a conference registration waiver and guaranteed presentation slot at the professional association conference next year in Salt Lake City, Utah.
Academic Support staff earned “center of distinction” at the conference in 2022. This year, six Academic Support employees attended ICLCA and presented five sessions in total: four concurrent conference sessions and one pre-conference session. The sessions served as an opportunity to showcase the theory-informed programming and best practices presently maintained within the office. In addition, multiple staff in the office have earned a leadership certification with the association, including Samantha Ansley who earned the level III certification at the conference in Portland, Oregon this year.
