Auburn University, in collaboration with the VR/AR Association, will present XR Summit 2025, a premier event exploring the transformative power of extended reality (XR) in education, research and business on May 1 in the Mell Classroom Building.
From interactive presentations to hands-on demonstrations, the summit is designed to provide attendees with a deep dive into the world of immersive technology. Through panel discussions and networking sessions, participants will engage with cutting-edge research, theoretical frameworks and real-world applications shaping XR's future.
The summit is structured around three dynamic learning tracks, each offering a unique perspective on the role of XR in academia and industry:
- Teaching and Learning: Discover how immersive technology is revolutionizing education and training. Experts will share insights on how XR enhances instructional methodologies and the challenges of integrating it into classrooms.
- Research: Explore the vast potential of XR as a research tool across disciplines. Attendees will learn about groundbreaking studies and methodologies leveraging immersive environments for data visualization, simulation and analysis.
- Tools and Technology: Stay ahead with the latest XR hardware, software and platform advancements. Industry professionals will showcase innovations that redefine what is possible in extended reality.
A key event highlight is the Exhibition Hall, where organizations, researchers and industry leaders will present the newest innovations in XR. Attendees will have the chance to engage with vendor booths, experience hands-on demonstrations and connect with the experts driving XR’s future.
“I am thrilled with Auburn's excitement and drive to bring XR and AI — and all emerging tech falling between, from digital engineering to decision-making, that XR and AI support — to their campus with us," said Nathan Klose, chief creative of Integration Innovation, Inc. (i3), and president of the Alabama VRARA Chapter. "As an R1 research university and strong advocate of XR and AI in the state, Auburn is a prime partner for the VR/AR Association to work with to bring the intersections of research and education together. Auburn is at the forefront of setting new pedagogical standards for immersive experiences."
