Whether online video chat or in person, University Writing meets clients and instructors with compassion and agility. The office provides assistance across writing phases and genres from drafting to fine tuning research papers, ePortfolios, lab reports, conference proposals and more.

Offered to all current students, faculty and instructors at Auburn, University Writing programming encourages critical thinking and reaches across multiple topics and modalities, resulting in high quality writing outcomes across varying subject matters.

Its exemplary work was recently recognized by the Association for Writing Across the Curriculum and the WAC Clearinghouse.

Acknowledging exceptional achievements of WAC administrative teams and/or directors, the 2025 Exemplary Enduring WAC Program (11+ years) honors University Writing’s ability to impact not only university constituents but the culture of writing both on and off campus.

Having been a university institution for 15 years, University Writing continues to evolve and positively impact students, instructors and community members.

“I am honored that University Writing has been recognized for excellence by our peers in the Association for Writing Across the Curriculum,” said Christopher Basgier, director of University Writing. “Our success has depended on countless members of the Auburn community—faculty, staff, students and administrators—who have contributed to our program. I am grateful for their support, and we look forward to working alongside them to enhance writing and communication for years to come.”
