Auburn Outdoors launched in 2013 with the opening of the Recreation and Wellness Center. Though the COVID-19 pandemic stifled visibility, its student and professional team has helped it rebound.
AO averages seven trips per semester, which run at capacity. Between fall 2022 and fall 2024, rentals rose 50% and overall participation increased 17%. Rentals especially surge in pleasant weather.

Teams were questioned by judges on financials, market shares, product availability, etc. To support their business plans, the 2025 Tiger Cage competition provided startup capital to all teams that placed in the final six including a series of special awards.

Johni Broome refused to let anything stand in the way of leading his team to the Final Four, not even an elbow injury.
Broome led the Tigers with 25 points and 14 rebounds, his 21st double-double of the season.
Coventry was a standout for the Tigers the moment she walked on campus at Auburn. Helping the Orange and Blue to its first National Championship in a Women's sport in 2002, the Zimbabwe native also aided the Tigers to two more Team Titles in 2003 and 2004 and was the top individual point scorer at the 2005 Championships.
In total, Coventry racked up seven national titles, 25 All-American honors, was named the SEC Swimmer of the Year as well as the conference Female Athlete of the Year in 2004-05, and picked up the Honda Sports Award in 2005, recognizing the most outstanding female swimming of the year. Her 200 back record on the Plains still stands to this day.

How many Auburn University Marching Band members are chosen to be a drum major?

Out of 380 AUMB members, only four earn the coveted role each year.
Ross Tolbert said the tryout was a "rigorous" experience, but he secured the spot for his sophomore year and every year since.
This season, Ross has served as the head drum major, which means he and his three bandmates share the responsibility of leading the band on to Pat Dye Field pre-game and performing the iconic mace routine.
Assistant Extension Professor Camila Rodrigues, supervisor of Auburn's Produce Safety Lab, is studying whether essential oils can be used for food safety in organic fruit and vegetable production. Rodrigues, with postdoctoral fellow Jessica Pizzo, tested oregano and winter savory essential oils on three different types of lettuce — romaine, crisphead and butterhead — in a postharvest washing system. They found the essential oils were extremely effective in limiting E. coli cross-contamination for all lettuce types and are a healthy and sustainable alternative to traditionally used sterilizing chemicals.
Rodrigues and Pizzo are continuing to research the possibilities of using essential oils to sanitize produce, focusing on finding the best concentrations for different types of produce and bacteria strains and exploring the possible long-term effects on produce quality and sanitization equipment.
Auburn is home to more than 34,000 students — the “happiest students” around. They include nearly 28,000 undergraduates, almost 60% of whom come from the state of Alabama, and another group of more than 6,000 graduate students.

Mechanical Engineering Associate Professor Mehmet Arik — who earlier this year was named an National Academy of Inventors Fellow and whose research team owns more than 120 patents — is working on microfluidics cooling for advanced electronics servers to help conserve power and improve efficiency. His team also is working on ways to build energy efficiency in LED lights, which are increasingly popular in everyday uses around the globe.
In March, Shipshape teamed with ABOVE Space, with support from the HudsonAlpha Institute for Biotechnology and startup accelerator Gener8tor, to send a payload of lettuce and tomato seeds to the International Space Station (ISS) in an attempt to better understand plant biology and "reshape the future of agriculture."
